Mr. Shigeki Furuta is the Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Pakistan Office. He has been posted since March 2019. He has 29 years of experience in development cooperation at JICA. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Senior Vice Managing Director of General Affairs Department of JICA Headquarters, Tokyo, taking in charge of JICA’s overall policy, administration, organization structuring, and legal and compliance control.
He has served with JICA since 1990, as Senior Vice Managing Director of South Asia Department ( in charge of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka) (2015-2017), Senior Advisor to Managing Director of Personnel Department (2013-2015), Senior Representative of Bangladesh Office (2011-2013), and etc.
He is Japanese National, obtained education from the Faculty of Law at Keio University and MPS/International Development course at Cornell University.
